Abstract：
In this article, an adaptive conforming finite element method for a model second-order elliptic variational inequality of the secondkind is proposed and analyzed in terms of convergence. We prove thata sequence of adaptive finite element approximations generated bythe algorithm converges to the true solution in the energy norm andthe related error estimator reduces to zero.
